Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the project, ensuring both efficiency and strict adherence to sustainable standards. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure seamless project execution and management. The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards across all operational aspects, including logistical, forestry, industrial and administrative functions. The Operations Manager is also responsible for implementing strategies that enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness, while minimizing environmental impacts. A key aspect of this role involves the integration and management of international activities.
The Operations Manager will need to navigate the complexities of working in diverse African environments, understanding local regulations, cultures, and operational challenges. This includes overseeing activities related to Agroforestry, Forestry, Afforestation/Reforestation. 

Experience and qualifications:
➢ Master’s degree in environmental management, or a related field.
➢ Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainability, project management, or international development are advantageous.
➢ More than 5 years of proven experience in Operations Management: Extensive experience in managing operations, ideally within an environmental or sustainability-focused organization. A track record of successfully overseeing large-scale projects, preferably in the context of international development or environmental conservation.
➢ Demonstrated experience in managing operations in Africa, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this context. Experience in related projects, or similar sustainability initiatives in African countries is highly desirable.
➢ Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments. Sensitivity to cultural differences and adaptability to changing circumstances are crucial for success in this role.
➢ A deep understanding of sustainability practices and environmental regulations, sustainability certification standards, and best practices in sustainable operations.
➢ Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of local African languages or Portuguese is a significant advantage.
➢ A valid international driving license is preferred.
➢ Willingness to travel extensively in Africa.
