Human Resources Manager
Mamaland, a Mota-Engil Group company, is dedicated to the development and maintenance of sustainable systems through a more inclusive approach, with the aim of generating Prosperity for the Planet and for People. The MoRe Project is a large-scale initiative, with an expected duration of 40 years, focused on forest restoration and sustainable development in Malawi. The project aims to restore 555,000 hectares of degraded land through reforestation, agroforestry, and assisted natural regeneration, while promoting the active involvement of local communities. Through this approach, MoRe seeks to generate long-lasting environmental, social, and economic benefits, contributing to ecological resilience and the well-being of populations.
Role description:
Ensure the management and development of the HR function at Mamaland in Malawi, guaranteeing the implementation of policies and practices aligned with the organization’s global strategy.
This role will play a key part in HR operational management and in the development of local talent within a multicultural and growing environment, while also ensuring compliance with applicable labor legislation.
Main Responsabilities:
Coordinate and oversee the management of the Human Resources function at a local level;
Manage HR administrative processes, including hiring, contracts, employee records, and payroll processing;
Ensure compliance with local labor laws and applicable legal obligations;
recruitment and selection processes, with a focus on developing local talent;
Ensure onboarding, integration, and follow-up processes for employees;
Identify training needs and promote continuous team development;
Coordinate occupational health activities and support health and safety management;
Support the management of expatriate employees, ensuring their integration and legal compliance;
Promote a positive, inclusive, and results-oriented organizational culture;
Act as a strategic partner to local management.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, or a similar field;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources roles;
Experience in an international context or in emerging markets (preferred);
Strong knowledge of HR administration and talent development;
Knowledge of labor law (experience in an African context is valued);
Good command of MS Office tools and preferably ERP systems (e.g., SAP);
Fluency in English (mandatory);
Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to multicultural environments;
Autonomous, resilient, and results-oriented profile;
Availability for international mobility.
