Finance Director 

Luso Global Mining is a Mota-Engil Group company focused on the development and operation of mining projects, with a strategic presence in Africa. LGM is currently developing an iron ore mining project in Cameroon, based on a Direct Shipping Ore (DSO) model, with an integrated mine-to-port value chain. The project is expected to operate under a contract mining model, with specialised contractors responsible for mining activities while LGM retains strategic, technical, commercial and operational oversight.

Role Description

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, with a functional interface with the Natural Resources Group CFO, the Director – Finance will provide strategic financial leadership across LGM and its portfolio of mining projects and entities.

The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust financial governance, reporting, planning, treasury and control frameworks, ensuring sound financial management throughout the different stages of the mining asset lifecycle.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Company's growth and investment strategy, providing financial insight to the CEO and senior management and supporting project development, capital allocation, financing and investment decisions.

The position will also lead the evolution of LGM's finance function, including the implementation of appropriate systems, processes and controls across its projects and entities.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership of the finance function across LGM and its project entities.
• Establish robust financial governance, controls, reporting and compliance frameworks aligned with Mota-Engil Group requirements. 
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance analysis, supporting strategic and operational decision-making.
• Oversee cash management, treasury, funding requirements and financial risk management across the business.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial and management reporting, including consolidated reporting and statutory requirements.
• Support mining project development, investment cases, project financing, capital allocation and M&A activities.
• Oversee the financial performance and reporting of LGM's investments and project SPVs, including JV structures. 
• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of ERP, finance systems, processes and reporting tools.
• Act as a key financial advisor to the CEO, senior management and Board, working closely with Group Finance and other stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline. 
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive finance experience, including significant experience in senior finance leadership positions.
• Proven experience leading finance functions within mining, natural resources, infrastructure, energy or other project-based industries.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, financial controls and corporate governance. 
• Experience managing multi-country operations, project entities and/or consolidated reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP implementation and finance transformation. 
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial governance. 
• Experience in project finance, investment analysis, M&A or capital-intensive projects will be considered an advantage. 
• Previous experience in Africa and/or emerging markets will be considered an advantage.
• Experience in JV and/or SPV structures will be considered an advantage. 
• Fluent English is mandatory, both written and spoken. 
• Portuguese and French will be considered an advantage.
• MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Business or a related field will be considered an advantage.
