Function Mission

 

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems and equipment at the construction site.

 

Plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of mechanical assets through effective maintenance programs, inspections, and troubleshooting. The Engineer collaborates with maintenance teams, managers, and stakeholders to optimize maintenance strategies, reduce downtime, and maximize equipment lifespan.
 

Responsibilities

May include but are not limited to:

 

  • Develops and implement maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures for mechanical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

 

  • Conducts regular inspections of mechanical assets, identify maintenance needs, and address any issues or anomalies to prevent failures or breakdowns.

 

  • Diagnoses mechanical problems, recommend repair solutions, and oversee repair activities to restore functionality and efficiency.

 

  • Establishes preventive maintenance programs, perform routine checks, and schedule maintenance tasks to proactively address potential issues and minimize downtime.

 

  • Investigates equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues and enhance equipment reliability.

 

  • Manages inventory of spare parts, components, and supplies needed for maintenance activities, procure materials as required, and ensure availability of critical spare parts.

 

  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices in maintenance operations to create a safe work environment for maintenance personnel.

 

  • Monitors equipment performance, track maintenance data, analyze key performance indicators, and report on maintenance metrics to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

 

  • Provides guidance, and technical support to maintenance teams, enhance their skills, and promote a culture of excellence in maintenance practices.

 

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • COREN certified is a plus.
  • Prior experience in maintenance management of civil construction and public works equipment. parts/consumables/fuel stock and warehouse management, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Experience in SAP Equipment & Tools Management and Project Management
  • Minimum of 3-5years experience in a similar role.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in maintenance planning, equipment troubleshooting, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment maintenance practices, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Effective communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
